2021 Palliative Care Training for Nurses (1st, 2nd & 3rd Class)
In the eleventh year of our efforts to help the Can Tho medical community develop palliative care services the Palliative Care Team had a remarkably successful year!
Year ending 2021, three classes were able to be provided:
- One for Can Tho Medical College 21-25 Sep 2020 (1st Class)
- One for CTOH from 2nd to 10th Nov 2020 (2nd Class)
- One for Tra Vinh University and hospitals in Tra Vinh from 1st to 8th Apr 2021 (3rd Class)
- One for CTOH from 12th to 20th Apr 2021 (4th Class)
Following the two classes at Can Tho Medical College and one class for nurses at Cantho Oncology Hospital (CTOH), MEET Palliative Care held one more class for the nurses of CTOH, the specialty hospital taking care of cancer patients in Mekong provinces. The class was held from 2nd to 10th Nov 2020. Clinical practice and educating caregivers on how to provide care were the most interesting learning activities.
In order to bring Palliative Care knowledge and practice into the training for students and nurses working in other wards beside cancer ward, MEET Palliative Care came to Tra Vinh University. A very warm welcome was received. A training course was provided from 1st to 8th Apr 2021 for Lecturers of Nursing Department of Tra Vinh University and key nurses of many hospitals in Tra Vinh province. The collaboration will continue with more activities in training.
Before the lock down due to Covid 19 pandemic, MEET Palliative Care is happy to hold one more class for nurses of Cantho Oncology Hospital from 12th to 20th Apr 2021. The session of Pain management and Opiod usage are most informative. All of us had a very emotional time when we expressed our gratitude to what we have done in our nursing career and our warmest wishes for the peace to our patients.
