Skype Education from Seattle to Can Tho Children’s Hospital now being offered
Dr. Jill Cole, DSW and Gail Watts, MSW, part of MEETs Social Work/Mental Health delegation are now providing Skype education from Seattle to Can Tho Children’s Hospital.
They are addressing questions, and real life situations for the SW team there, as relates to their patient/family experiences. Not unlike other hospital settings, the Social Workers are challenged with addressing a variety of mental health and social issues.
Social Workers can assist their patients and families in meaningful ways in the hospital setting. They can contribute to a patient and family’s sense of well being, trust in their medical care, and make important changes in life style decisions.
Attending the Skype meeting were representatives from Children’s Social Work, Nursing, and a variety of other departments, including Administration.
These on-going educational opportunities will be important moving forward in appreciating the role of Medical SWers in the hospital setting. MEET SW/Mental Health hopes to connect in this way with the other area hospitals to further our cultural exchange.
